Cuteness Overload!

Honey Bunch is our precious little fur ball.

Here she is waiting on water.  She is not spoiled in the slightest.  Wink wink.

Here she is when we heard Daddy coming home from work.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's with my sweetheart is always sweet and special.  I prayed for many years for a husband to share my love with.  I am so blessed the Lord have me Nick.  He is the most thoughtful and giving man.  His love is without strings or expectations.  His goal is to make me feel love and cherished.  Love this man with all my heart!

He surprised me in the morning with red roses, chocolate and a stuffed teddy bear.  For dinner we went to PF Chang's and enjoyed a wonderful dinner of Lettuce Wraps, Chang's Spicey Chicken, Mongolian Beef and Fried Rice.  We were stuffed after all that.

After dinner, Nick said he had a surprise for me.  We went to the Brighton Store and I got to pick out a lovely charm for my charm bracelet.  Thank you honey for making Valentine's special.  Love you.

The New Me Progress

I have been on a weight loss journey since the beginning of the year.  After receiving a discouraging report at the doctor, I knew I needed to make major changes in my life.  When the Lord blesses us with a baby, I want to be the healthiest I can be.  I have lost 28 lbs so far and I am just getting started.   The left picture was in September and the right side was on Saturday.  So nice to see the progress!

Belle Chèvre!

Yesterday we got our goat on! Nick & I and Katy & Chris went to the Belle Chevre (stands for beautiful goat) Creamery in Elkmont, AL. They make goat cheese in many different flavors including honey, pimento and fig.  They are a small production and have to import their goat milk to make the cheese.  I found out that I am not a fan of goat cheese.  A little too strong for my taste.  They did have some goats to pet. They seemed to really love Chris! They were pretty funny. Midnight had some major buck teeth going on. It was fun little trip and a great time together.

Nick's Birthday Fiesta

Yesterday we celebrated Nick's 38th birthday! Nick and I both took off work so we could have some fun and relaxation.  Honey Bunch and I surprised him with a Batman balloon. Honey Bunch may have been eating the ribbon.

We started the day of food off with sausage balls and watched some WWE NXT (Nick chose our TV viewing.  Lol!).  Next round of food came for lunch at Mellow Mushroom.  Love their gluten free options! Then we came back and Nick got to watch more of his fav TV.

For dinner, the family came over for a Birthday Fiesta! We had tacos, rice, beans, cheese dip, chips and salsa.  It was a real Mexican extravaganza. For dessert we had banana pudding-Nick's favorite!   Then Nick got to open his Birthday gifts.  Honey Bunch helped again with the ribbon.  What would we do without her assistance? Katy & Chris gave him a custom iPad case. Mama and Daddy gave him an iTunes gift card and some spending money. I gave Nick the Willow Soundtrack and the Talisman Firelands expansion. I think he loved them all!

Then we had to play pin the tail on the donkey.  No Fiesta party would be complete without it.  Safe to say none of us are experts. The we played Quelf, a really fun and random game Katy discovered.  We laughed pretty hard and can't wait to play again!

What a great day to celebrate my wonderful husband and the wonderful man he is. Happy Birthday baby!

Pin the Tail on the Donkey!  Such a classic.

Love these crazies!

This is what we call a Cat in the Sombrero!

Madison Square Mall

When we were growing up, Madison Square Mall was an exciting place to go.  We loved Kristy's Pals with their Hello Kitty and fun grab bags, Everything's a $1 and also KB Toys. There are many happy childhood memories at Madison Square.  JcPenney and Sears (two of my favs) were the last to close their doors.

It is hard to believe that after 33 years Madison Square will be torn down to make way for the new MidCity venue.  New things are good, but it is hard to see a Huntsville landmark leave us.  Fond memories will always be there.

Here is a link to Katy's blog.  We do after all share all the same memories.

When Nick and I decided to adopt, we knew we would have to lean on the Lord's grace to carry us through.  We have worked and continue to work through many emotions and also a sense of loss.  One loss that is so heavy on my heart lately is the lack of understanding that adoptive mothers receive in relation to expectant (pregnant) mothers.  The definition of expectant is excitement that something is about to happen.  We adoptive mothers have this just as much as pregnant woman.  I may not be carrying my baby inside me, but I have the nesting instinct, wonder what my baby will look like and my heart is already in love.  Adoptive mothers miss out on so much of the attention pregnant women get.  I never understood this until I was the adoptive mother.  The pregnant mother get all the questions, all the understanding and all the attention to the fact that are going to have a baby.   Adoptive mothers are going to be mothers as well and we are expecting babies.  We don't have a due date but the anticipation is still strong.  For those of us who have longed for pregnancy for many years, this loss is especially excruciating.  The lack of sympathy or understanding from people only adds to this loss.  My excitement over waiting for a baby is no less than if I were pregnant.

My prayer for myself and other women who are adopting would be that those around us would treat us with the same excitement and anticipation as a woman who is pregnant.  Ask us questions about the waiting and give us the enjoyment of sharing.  This is our experience of growing our family and our hearts long for people to share in that with us.
